The story of H4
A company built on a simple conviction: the Atlantic should be a bridge, not a barrier.
Where we come from
The British brass band is one of the great living traditions of music-making — born in the collieries and mills of the nineteenth century, sharpened by a hundred and fifty years of contesting, and carried today by players of astonishing skill. North America has a thriving banding movement of its own, with bands, championships, and audiences discovering the sound and thirsting for more.
In the eighteenth century, the challenge of determining longitude kept ships from confidently navigating the world's oceans. John Harrison's H4 chronometer changed that forever, creating a reliable path between continents.
At H4 Artist Group, we embrace that same spirit of innovation and connection. We guide internationally acclaimed artists across cultural and geographic boundaries, building meaningful artistic partnerships throughout North America. Whether introducing a distinguished soloist to a new audience, planning a residency, or developing a touring strategy, we help chart the course from possibility to performance.
Where we are going
Our work runs in both directions. We bring British artists west — soloists for festivals, conductors for workshops and contests, ensembles for tours that reward everyone involved. And we help North American bands look east: repertoire guidance, commissioning introductions, and honest advice from people who have sat in the bandroom, not just the office.
We would rather do fewer things precisely than many things approximately. If we take on your project, it gets our full attention.
The name H4 Artist Group is inspired by John Harrison's H4 marine chronometer, one of history's most important technological achievements.
By solving the longitude problem, Harrison gave navigators the confidence to cross oceans with precision and purpose. We apply that same philosophy to artist representation, helping exceptional talent navigate new markets, build meaningful partnerships, and connect with audiences far beyond their home shores.
Today, H4 Music Group serves as a bridge between artistic communities, creating pathways between the United Kingdom and North America.

“Precision is a courtesy — to the music, to the artist, and to the audience.”
From the Owner
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, I am a professional tubist, conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and arts organization leader. I am a performer, guest conductor, workshop clinician, and judge, bringing extensive expertise to the stage, the podium, and the classroom.
For over three decades, my career has been rooted in the heart of the brass band world—as a performer, artistic director, and national arts leader. Having served as President of the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) and led organizations at both the local and national levels, I have had a front-row seat to the remarkable evolution, energy, and expanding reach of the brass band movement across the continent.
Throughout my career, my work has extended beyond the stage and podium into the essential mechanics of artistic management. From commissioning original repertoire and producing visiting artists to managing complex tour logistics and collaborating with management teams worldwide, I have dedicated myself to creating seamless, high-impact musical experiences.
Why I Founded H4 Music Group
During my tenure leading NABBA, a clear dynamic became impossible to ignore: North America’s brass community was growing exponentially—hungry for world-class talent, fresh inspiration, and elevated artistic collaboration. At the same time, the UK and Europe held an extraordinary concentration of the world’s finest brass soloists, conductors, and clinicians.
However, bringing these two worlds together wasn't always straightforward. Navigating international tours, host ensemble logistics, artist management, and production standards requires specialized industry insight and trust on both sides of the Atlantic.
H4 Music Group was created to streamline and professionalize the connection between world-renowned brass artists and North American opportunities. By leveraging 30 years of producer, presenter, and leadership experience, H4 handles the heavy lifting—booking, tour management, producer oversight, and commissioning—so artists can focus entirely on their performance, and host organizations can deliver unforgettable experiences to their audiences.

“I want to connect the amazing brass band artists in Europe to the growing movement in North America”
